1 year duration of stay on visa sticker (VITEM XI)

Hi Members
I just received my Vitem XI (Family Reunion), sponsored by my Brazilian son who is a minor. The visa was issued by the Consulate General
The visa is valid for one year and the duration of stay on the visa sticker is also one year
Does this mean that upon registration at the Federal Police I will only be issued with a CRNM that is valid for 1 year because the duration of stay on my visa sticker is 1 year?
Does this mean that I have to renew my visa/CRNM every year?

Congratulations!

No, it means that, if you don't come to Brazil and register with the Federal Police within one year, the visa will expire and you'll need to start the process all over again.

Once you have your CRNM, you'll be able to enter Brazil at will with it, and won't need to renew the visa or to obtain a new one.

The normal validity of a CRNM based on family unification is nine years, renewable; the Federal Police have the discretion of granting a shorter period, but it will probably be the full nine years, particularly in the case of the parent of a minor child.
