I' m sitting here in Sydney and seriously considering the decision to become an Expat in Port Moresby.
I found out 2 days ago that I will be given an offer this coming week for a management position in the Financial Services industry in PNG, based in Port Moresby. Very excited, and also filled with more than a little trepidation. I have trawled through the forums and blogs and it seems that although security concerns are paramount, life in POM can be enjoyable and rewarding.
As yet I don't have any details of my offer, but from the forums I presume it will include accomodation, car, medical insurance, flights home, etc. Lets hope so.
I'm originally from the UK (Guildford in SE England) but have been in Sydney for the past 10+ years. Still have my English accent, though!
Hopefully I'll have more to add this week after the offer comes through in full but until then, hi, and who knows, I may be seeing you all in the very near future.
Oh, as I'm a newbie, is there anything particular that I should ensure is in my contract of employment? Or are all expat contracts reasonably standard?
Cheers

You do not need to basically ask any inclusion in ur contract depending on the terms that are acceptable to you, and more over the expat contracts are all reasonably similar and ok but do go through it word by word.
This place is amazing and specially the ppl are amazing too, u would enjoy it here.
