How can I make new friends in Dubai?

I've been living in Dubai for 1.5 years... Most of the time busy in office... or at home I keep myself busy with my personal web development projects/hobbies.... so I don't go out a lot and consequently, no social life, no friends...

How can I meet new people in Dubai?

However, the title and content of this post CLEARLY state that the purpose of this post is to get advice on common social practices used in Dubai to meet and make new friends.

So if you have some good advice, please share it, otherwise, please mind your own business
