Expat moving to abudhabi

SAM2K14

Hi all,

I am moving from canada to abudhabi soon.

Groceries: 5k
Utilities: 1k
Rent  for 3 bed villa  near khalifa city :11500
Car+reg+fuel+insurance: 5k
School: 3k  ( as 50k is paid by company for 2 kids)
Misc: 7k

Total 32500 aed/ month

breakdown of the living expenses ,having a family of 4 with kids aged 6 and 8 .

Kindly if any one can help me with this , is it a good estimate or I am way down .

I have 85k for my kids school fee for both of them as my company would be paying 50k per year for both.
So I have quoted 3k for them .

Help would be much appreciated.

Sam.

Overall, you are in line.  Groceries can be lower or higher depending on your choices i.e. imported vs. regional.

Utilities might be higher for a villa - as the peak summer months will kill you.  Don't forget the housing fee which is a percentage of rental value.   So all in all, to be really on the safe side, factor in 1.5-2K for utilities (all utilities).

Housing / Municipality fee:

Rest seems ok for the most part (rentals - check latest prices to get an idea of trends).   I assume medical for the family is covered?  as that can be a big expense if it is not covered.

Thanxz XTang,

Yes I heard about the municipality fee.
Yes we got damac platinum plus health insurance for the whole family I heard medical is very expensive as we have free health care system here.

One more thing I need help with a very good peads nephrologist, if anyone have any recommendations.

Thanks
