Microsoft Tablet PC

Reminded me of a presenation about MS Surface PC I saw back in 2007. I am surprized that they are still working on it. Though the concept has been capitalized in creation of many devices (by other parties).

It will be avalable later this year in two versions, a lighter with ARM based processor and other with intel processor.
It also has a smart cover with two options of key boards.

Its the future! Smaller laptops or bigger phones. My first laptop gave me a bad back it was so heavy! It had no hard drive and 2 floppy drives.

This is EXACTLY what we needed…..compatibility and relibility of WINDOWS 8 + PROCESSOR OF LAPTOP + BODY AND FEATURES OF A TABLET….i give you my words this thing is going to Rock..

microsoft will fail now just as it did when it tried to do a tablet years ago.

they need to get out of the hardware game. they suck at it.

That's my expectation too @FLS Microsoft can't do anything except crap. I hate Windows on my laptop; what to talk about a tab? I guess I won't switch from iPad for at least 5 coming years.

Being a hot topic, I happened to discuss it with some IT specialists who had taken deeper insight.They say somethong quite different like Windows 8 is way too different, they have invested a lot on it in terms of money, time, efforts, brains etc etc etc.

By the way, I heard that the poor tablet crashed with 'blue screen halt message' during the presentation. Is it true? Can someone share the video link?

Not a crash... A hang-up. He must have kept several machines there; in case ....

Concensus is that microsoft can offend manufacturers like Dell,HP and other who were planning to bring out tablets based on windows 8 operating system. Microsoft would have been better off licensing software as before.
Lets watch the final product and how it is received. Opinion is mixed on IT blogs.
Windows tablets may threaten Android based tablet at lounge if successful. Many manufacturers are holding release of new hardware until release of windows 8.
