Dress code for Western guests @ Saudi wedding

greatexpectations

Hi all,
I would appreciate any guidance on this.

Also, do most people bring presents (I don't know either bride or groom)?  I am a friend of a relative.

Many thanks for your help.

PS - Looking for guidance on male dress code.  Will jacket and chinos be acceptable.  I have limited wardrobe with me.

Jacket and chinos are fine.  Ideally, a tie for more formal affairs but you can get away with it.

No need for presents unless you know the bride or groom.

That's most helpful.  I do have a tie - so that helps.

Any idea what time proceedings normally wind up?

They usually always start late.  And then it keeps on going and going and going :)

Rule of thumb, leave 30 mins after food!

Gifts are not really necessary but as XTang said if you know the bride or groom . Usually invited people starts coming from 9:00 pm and counting
