Security check

Hi All,

Can someone tell me how many types of security checks there whilst working for a government company in Saudi?

One check is a police report which you will get a message on absher which was not the case as company told me no request will come to absher, what other security checks are there?

They only have my iqama number and mobile number thanks

It varies. The absher one is the most basic and it is the electronic version of the police clearance certificate.  The only difference vs. the normal paper certificate is that this one is only valid for 7 days.

The company will send a request, you login to Absher and approve it under "Qabul" section. Then when ready, the certificate itself can be downloaded by you even, from within Absher.

Hi,

I did not get a absher request under Qabul section, the government company told me it has nothing to do with your absher or qabul etc

So I was thinking I am sure the security check will clear but was seeing how long it takes was the question or has anyone been through this check before..

They did say it was via MOI the check

I said Absher as you mentioned it. If its a security clearance, that will be done through MOI and you won't get any link whatsoever.

Yes it’s a security clearance via MOI - do you know how long that takes? Thanks

what do they check just for criminal records within Saudi?

thanks

The time varies.  Anywhere from a few weeks to a few months depending on the situation.  As far as I know, they check inside Saudi plus also the global databases........so yes, outside Saudi is also checked.

Ok thanks what does global databases mean for example if you are on the interpol I guess etc

ok sure so 2 months is average time no problem

Yes outside saudi meaning any crimes or if someone is wanted by police etc ok that makes sense

Global databases is a pretty wide spectrum.  Interpol is just one but there are many other data repositories such as World Check etc.........which capture data on politically exposed people, criminal convictions etc.

As an example, I went for a security clearance in Bahrain to buy some property and I saw my report lying on the desk in the notary office when I was finishing the transaction........it had gone through probably 10 different sources from Interpol to terrorist watch lists to financial crime watch lists etc etc.   And this was for property leading to a long term visa.  I would assume that MOI check would be at least this thorough, if not more.

Ok that makes sense now thanks

yes interpol and police checks of course but anyhow I am sure they would done this anyway before they issued me a work visa first time round when I came to the country etc

thanks for all the info

The work visa check is pretty basic.  The MOI one is not.
