Accused of showing middle finger

I have been accused of showing middle finger to another driver. I merely pointed with my index finger.

I need to make a statement at the police station. What’s the fine/punishment if the public prosecutor doesn’t believe my account?

My advice, consult a lawyer before going to the police station. And if you didn't show the middle finger, be very clear & humble and not confuse the issue i.e. "I merely gestured to him to go a certain way with my hand and if he says I showed him the middle finger, he is mistaken but I still apologize unreservedly if that is the case due to any confusion".

Worst case, depending on what provision they charge you under, it could be a fine and a bit of jail. But it should not come to that.
