Welcome to Bahrain! You finally made it - and made it in an excellent time since Ramadan is now over and Bahrain is back on track

You live in one of the best places in Bahrain in my opinion. Amwaj is a bit far from the centre, but the place itself is a gem!

Visit Adliya, you'll see plenty of restaurants and cafes around. Nice time to chill out. Also ask someone to take you to The British Club where you can become a member (200BD a year I think) and in it, you have a cafe, a restaurant / pub, a pool, a gym and more.

There is much to do if you are open to meet people from other cultures. There are many groups and activities happening for people with just any interest in bahrain. I can direct you to some if interested in movies, travel, culture, reading, discussion groups, leadership and communication groups.

Hi, thanks for the replies. Have been here nearly 1 month now and am learning that a car is perhaps necessary to get around/do anything! (There are no pavements/sidewalks. ANYWHERE). still finding my feet hopefully it'll get better as months go on.

Certainly its just a matter of time and things will get much better; a car is necessary as it will give you more options and facilitate your moves.

Its nice that temperatures are relatively dropping down so that you can walk around and find your first steps on the island.

Do not hesitate to post on the forum in case you have any concerns; I'm sure all of the active members would be glad to advice and provide the desired information.

How easy/difficult would it be for her to get work in Bahrain as an English teacher?

It should be fine with her qualifications. That's largely what it depends upon.

just have a search on the school's websites for vacancies, and sign up to their vacancy mailing lists.

OK and how are the interviews conducted given she will be in Europe?

What is the job market like at the moment...are there good times and bad times to look?

Logically, it is best to apply before the new year as the schools would be planning their capacity and staff for the following year.
