Planning to live in Valencia for 3 months with a newborn baby

I can't offer advice as we're also planning to move to Valencia from England, in 12-18 months time. I'm Australian (with Maltese citizenship also) and my wife is Russian so will be interested to see how you get on (we also have a baby due in a week!).

My experience of renting in Alicante/Alacant town may be of help as I don't think Alacant would be greatly different from Valencia.

I have been renting for 6 months at a time in the winter, but I am also looking for somewhere to buy.  The problem for me is similar in that to rent 6 months you certainly need a choice of places in order to find somewhere you are happy with. Also when something reasonable comes up you often have to make a decision quite quickly. So I have been taking short term holiday lets /cheap hotels for a couple of weeks or so while I look at places to stay longer term. I have had some problems in finding 6 month tenancies as a lot of people recently seem to want much long term lets, although I did find several 3 month lets. I usually pick somewhere near a large supermarket that I can walk to, but most people use cars. On your budget you should get somewhere really nice I usually manage on around 750 eu per month but I am in a smaller apartment and don't need a garage. If looking for an apartment I would consider how much light you get as with streets where there are high flats, if you are lower down you often don't get much light with the sun being lower in winter.

Thanks for the advice:) I wasn't considering that places may not be available for 2-3mths - that doesn't look short-term to me, especially in winter, but we'll see..My idea is to book it from here, not to get there and then look for apartments, but as you say it may not be possible that way. I definitely need a decent place, as I'll be working from it daily..hope more advises are coming from fellow expats

@Mrasi hello! I was wondering how was your experience, because we are thinking of moving in Valencia with my husband, dog and now newborn girl.

We are planning of going there by car from Greece next summer to check it out and maybe live there for a month or two and see if we really like it.

So, our case is very similar to yours and I would love yo hear more about your experience.

I moved to Valencia some time ago (together with my family...wife and newborn baby girl). We are from UK. We currently rent in flat in  Valencia in the Companar area.. it has lot of facilities and would highly recommend it. I know quite a lot about the various processes/documents required to live in Valencia. Let me know if you want any further info..

i am curious to hear your experience! We are  planning to move to valencia next spring, while being in the same situation as you and also moving from the UK. We will come in October to feel the vibe and also neighbouring cities, but valencia is number one on our list. would be great to gain some insights from you!
