In regards to working in IT in Spain ( Barcelona )

How is the quality of life as a developer in Spain, Barcelona? I checked how much I'd make, and it would be less than I make here in Romania, which is surprising since salaries in Eastern Europe are overall the lowest.

Since the developers in Spain are not paid so well compared to almost any other country in Europe, what does it offer in return? How does a week of living in Barcelona with say, a 2000 euros/month salary, look like? What do you get in return of giving up a big chunck of money and a bigger chunk of purchasing power?

Me and my fiancee are thinking about moving to Barcelona and we're trying to find out more things about the possibilities there.
