Romania's most expensive cities

Priscilla

Hello everyone,

What are the most expensive cities to live in Romania? What are the costs of things such as rent, utilities, weekly groceries, dining out, etc.?

What is the lifestyle like in these cities, for expats and locals?

What are the different neighbourhoods like? Are there more affordable areas?

Do you have any experience living in any of Romania's most expensive cities? What was it like?

Which cities in Romania would you recommend? Are there any that offer particularly good value for money when it comes to cost of living?

Thank you for sharing your experience.

Bucharest Romania' s capital is certainly the most expensive city in the country. Having said that I have to tell you that Bucharest is not an expensive city to live in compared to other European cities. The Northern areas of the city like Herastrau, Primaveri and Dorobanti have the most expensive rentals. Property prices can go high there! But you can find reasonable rent prices if you look in less wealthy and upscale areas. Groceries are normal especially if you choose Romanian products over imported ones. Dining out can be as expensive as you want it to be. There are fashionable and modern restaurants located mainly in the above mentioned areas that can be very expensive. But you can find reasonable priced restaurants if you know where to look. It all depends on the personal lifestyle and choices.
