Easy to rent a house with three mid size dogs?

whgwhg001

My name is Walter, I am planning to move to Portugal in the middle of next year. I will be taking my three dogs with me (from Asia), and want to rent first, before buying a suitable house. I will visit Portugal toward the end of this year, I am interested to live between the Silver Coast and Lisbon but that might change. I like the idea of renting first, to get a better idea of where I want to live eventually. Even thought that means I have to move twice within Portugal.

I have read that renting is not that simple in Portugal. And I wonder whether renting with three dogs will make things even harder? Can anyone please give me advise on that?

Hi Whgwhg001, Welcome :)

Why are you saying that renting is not that simple? You have everything explained here:

Regarding having 3 dogs in a rental home, it is important to be aware that:
- if it is a flat, it can bring you problems with your neighbours if dogs make noise, which is more than likely  :cool::sleep ;
- landlord may refuse to allow pets in the flat.

What I suggest is to rent a house instead of a flat. Allowing pets in the house should always be part of the rental contract, signed by you and your landlord.

Thank you for your response. I seem to have read it somewhere that renting was not that simple. But that probably applied more to touristy areas, I guess. Always happy to get correct information, thank you very much!

You're welcome  :)
In some touristy parts of the Algarve (and especially a few km close to the sea), owners do not rent the whole year. They have different prices: from April to September they charge one price, and the rest of the year it is much cheaper. But that happens only where there is a lot of tourism. You should take that into account. To explore a region, always rent outside those easily identified spots.
