MY Visa Status

Is the status “finished” on a visa application the final decision or is it approved or denied.

i was given a conditional refusal and to provide revised admission within14 days. I provided the document and it’s been one month and half today , AIMa has no issued a revised letter.

Could it be that he consulate did not send to AIMa?

or is that status will going to change to approved or denied?

The status "Finished" (or Concluído / Finalizado) on a Portuguese visa typically means the administrative review phase is complete and a decision has been reached, but it does not automatically mean the application was approved or denied.

To find out if it is Approved (Deferido) or Denied (Indeferido), you usually need to check the decision notice, check the passport status (if managed via VFS or consulate), or look for the written communication sent via email or registered post.

Consulates consult AIMA internally for legal opinion, but communication delays between Portuguese Consulates and AIMA are extremely common. It is very possible that either:

  1. The consulate took weeks to forward your updated admission letter to AIMA for a revised opinion, or

  1. AIMA took time to issue the updated opinion back to the consulate, and the consulate only recently marked the process as "Finished."

What Should You Do Now?

1. Check Your Email & Portal Notifications:

Look in your inbox and spam folders for formal decision letters from the Consulate, VFS, or AIMA containing terms like Deferimento (Approval) or Decisão Final (Final Decision).

2, Track or Collect Your Passport:

If you submitted through VFS or a local Consulate, check your passport collection tracking. The physical visa sticker or formal notification letter is placed inside your passport package.

3. Contact the Consulate Directly:

Send an inquiry to the Portuguese Consulate where you applied with your Full Name, Passport Number, Application Reference / Case Number. Mention that you submitted the requested revised admission letter within the 14-day window following the preliminary refusal (Audiência Prévia), note that 1.5 months have passed, and ask for confirmation of the final decision.

4. Submit an Inquiry to AIMA:

This form allows you to submit a direct ticket asking for the specific internal opinion issued on your case.

Select "Consulta e acompanhamento do processo" > "Qual o estado do meu processo?"

The website is currently working. Due to the time difference, when you tried to access it (early hours of the weekend, with a holiday on Monday) , the website was probably under maintenance...
