Does anyone know about how long after you apply for a renewal of the 3-year residence card, AIMA will contact you for an in person meeting?

After submission online, you receive a DUC (Single Collection Document). You generally have 10 business days to complete the payment. If the system determines that your biometric data (photo and fingerprints) needs updating, AIMA will contact you to schedule a collection appointment.

Currently, biometric appointments occur between 1 to 3 months after payment, though in high-pressure areas (like Lisbon or Porto), this can extend up to 6 months. You will be notified primarily via email or through a notification in your personal area on the portal.

Most expats report of 1 to 3 months waiting time for those using the Online Renewal Portal.
