AIMA Appointment: Any Strategy?

Insist on calling, for example, as early as 8am, or at different times of the day. You can only make an appointment by phone. Have you ever tried going to an AIMA shop in person at a quieter time of day and trying to speak to someone friendly?

I doubt they'll reply to emails, but it's still proof that you've tried.

When you call, you can get a busy signal or that recorded message about the website but sometimes you can also get through to another automated system which will allow you to choose options to get to scheduling an appointment. As mentioned above, in off peak hours you have a better chance of getting though. I notice I get through more often in the 7-8pm hour just before closing. However, I have found that even when I get to the scheduling option, there is a recorded message that says the scheduling option is in high demand and to call back again later. The phone numbers 965 903 700 and  21 711 5000 both work for me.

Thank you. Today when I called  I got a message that the 965 903 700 number is not in service. The other number only recites the website details in English and Portuguese, I haven't got any further. Will try during off peak hours.

Getting an appointment is almost like winning the lottery, i have tried everything and have been told to be patient and wait. When you go to the local office they will give you a ref number and a certified document this proves and puts you in the system. you are wasting time and days of your life trying to contact them everyday….

@Andrew Finnie So going to an AIMA shop will result in paperwork that puts me into the system and I eventually get notified with an appointment? You have done this? Do they review all your documents at that time or do you just show them ID and provide NIF or the like at this shop?

@Andrew Finnie ... Huh? So you just walked up to the balcao in person and someone gave you some confirmation that you were there?! That sounds great. Pls confirm that's what you did!

My relative took a short holiday in the Azores, where I live, and went to the loja in the Azores - which is disorganised, but not nearly as disorganised as the lojas on the mainland. There, he was told to take his documents to AIPA down the road. His documents were scanned and two weeks later, I received a phone call with an appointment date and time for him.
