Can I deposit my rent to my landlord's bank account with cash?

Dogukan Yurttas

Hello, I am a masters student in portugal and i am from non eu country. The first thing i did when i arrive here was getting my NIF number. But i dont have a bank account right now and i can not open one until i got my residence card. To keep everything legal, i wanted to pay my rent to my landlords bank account. Normally in my country, a tenant can just go to landlords bank and deposit the rent to his/her account. Since i dont know how things getting done around here, i wanted to ask you guys. Can i just go to the bank office and deposit my rent?

Hi Dogukan, Welcome.

Yes you can, but keep proof of the bank deposit, signed by you.

A transfer is always preferable to cash. Open a bank account as soon as you can.
