Reg: Suggestion on Salary and moving to Amsterdam

ravi chandragrc

Hi,

I have been offered a monthly Net of 5500 euros (after 30% ruling) + bonus of 12.5% (varies) by one of the Netherland company.

I have total 14years of IT experience and work in India with approx 42L per year Gross salary

I will be moving along with my wife.

Please let me know if this is a good salary in Amsterdam to start with or I need to ask my employer for any other correction

Regards
Ravi

Hi Ravi,
Did you happen to get any response or information.
I am currently in the same situation like you.

Based in Singapore and thinking of making a move to  NL. I have received a Job offer with a base of 95K euros including holiday allowance, plus 15% bonus pay.
I am trying to figure out if this is good enough for a family of 3.

Also though it's a permanent role, what I have been offered is an initial 1 year contract moving to permanent later. Informed that this being a norm in NL.
Do you happen to have any such information as well.

Hi both,

Just to add a more recent perspective (2026), those numbers are generally solid for Amsterdam, but a lot depends on lifestyle and housing.

~€5.5k net/month for a couple is comfortable, but rent (often €1.5k–€2.5k+) will impact how much you can save

€95k gross (+ bonus) for a family of 3 is also a good offer, especially with the 30% ruling, but not “luxury” once you factor in housing and childcare

The 1-year contract, permanent, is quite common in NL, so nothing unusual there.

What many people underestimate is how much the net salary vs real monthly costs changes the picture, especially in Amsterdam.

If you want to sanity-check it with current numbers, this helps:
