30% Tax Ruling - Master's Qualification

Hi,

I'm hoping to move to Amsterdam in the new year and I have a query regarding the 30% tax Ruling.

I am currently doing a part time Master's (Level 7) that I'm hoping to finish in August 2019. At the moment I have built up 60 ECTS credits from the modules I have completed to date. I have the option of graduating in January and receive a post graduate diploma. Is a post graduate diploma sufficient to qualify for the 30% tax Ruling? 60 ECTS appears to be the minimum amount of credits to receive a Level 7 qualification but I can't find a source saying that a Post graduate diploma will qualify for the ruling.

Thanks for any help you can give me on this.

Hi and welcome to the Forum.

If you don't have a Masters degree, then you must qualify by being paid over the salary band requirement for a highly skilled migrant.  Your employer will know the details.

Thanks for replying.

I suppose I don't know if my qualification is a Master's degree in the Netherlands or not. It has the requird credits for it but I'm not sure is that sufficient. Do the Dutch tax authorities give a definition on what a Master's is?

I am still eligible for the 30% ruling regardless of the Master's. However my net income will be different depending on if the Master's is considered or not.

Hi again.

Masters degrees are postgraduate degrees.  The Dutch have an organisation that specialises in qualification validation and recognition; they're called NUFFIC, this link will take you to their website, their contact details are at the bottom of the page - give them a call.
