Sick parent moving to Netherlands

PopCorn331

Hi!

I have just found out my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer. As I am currently residing in Netherlands with residence permit as highly skilled migrant (nonEU) I am wondering if there is any option for my mom (also non EU) to join me in the Netherlands, obtain Dutch health insurance and receive treatment in the Netherlands. My mom is below 65 of age. I am also wondering if she is able to receive medical treatment if she obtains short term stay visa for three months?

Time is of crucial importance since she is likely to be stage 3.

Thank you for your help!

Hi and welcome to the Forum.  I'm sorry to read of your mothers poor health.

I can't find the specific reference but I think you can apply for family reunification.  The fact that you can apply does not guarantee it will be granted, so you need to speak to somebody who is in the Regulatory system, so the IND.

I think speed will be of the essence, so my advice is that you contact IND first thing tomorrow morning and enquire there; this link will take you to their contact information.

With regards to Health Insurance; it's compulsory in Holland; my advice is for you to contact your own Insurer and see what options are available for your mother.

Hope this helps.
