Lantis

Hi Everyone!

Ill be transferring to Malta by the start of 2013. Can anyone give a headstart about the country, especially Valetta since I'll be working just near it.
Hows life there? What are the things that I should remember(do's and don'ts).
Thanks everyone!

Hi Lantis,

welcome to the forum.

Valletta is the capital town of Malta. Many work there in commerce, law and government offices but not many, especially not many foreigners, actually live there.

Where exactly will you be working ?

To get an idea about living in Malta just browse through previous posts. That should give you a very good idea of what to expect in Malta.

Hi Ricky,

I'll be working near Floriana. right now i still dont have a place to stay, can you suggest a nice place to stay near my workplace?

ricky

Hi Lantis,

a place in Floriana should not be too expensive! If you want to use an agency you can look when you arrive in Malta and stay in a hotel until you find a place.

You can usually find an appartment within a few days and move in fast too !

You can also look in the Gzira/Sliema area if you want to be more where things are going on and are prepared to spend a bit more on rent.

All buses to Valletta run through Floriana , from Sliema about every 10 minutes or less.

Cheers

Thats great ricky! How much does the rent go around those area?
Im thinking of sharing it with other people so that I'll save on the rent expense.

You have an idea what's the usual expense(for all items such as rent, utilities, food) a month? Thanks!

I see that currently you are in the Philippines but you do not mention your nationality.

If EU try this http://britishexpat.com/expatforum/malt … php?t=8544

For accommodation use the usual search engines and Times of Malta (online) especially on Sundays in the classifieds. Also for flat shares etc.

I suggest you conduct a lot of your own research as you will know your own needs, income etc and so much is subjective.

Also read all the previous postings as there is something in them all for everyone.
