This thread is for you ;)

We invite you to introduce yourself on this topic, to share with us your expat story if you are already living in the country,

It will enable us to help you better but above all to wish you a warm welcome.

Hi, my name is Patricia Hart and I’m usually called Pat or Tricia.  I have lived in the countryside outside Casarano for the last 16 years.  We moved here just after my husband retired and have enjoyed ourselves ever since.  We did have family, my husbands daughter married an Italian, which probably encouraged us to think about moving so far south.  My husbands daughter’s family are all grown up now and have moved away and so has his daughter.  But we have embraced the community we live in and have made many friendships both Italian and British.

Hello,  My name is Jerrod Pickering, and my wife and 3 kids (Girl, 19, Girl 14, Boy, 6) will be moving to Verona in late June/early July 2026.  We are not running from anything but rather going to experience life abroad.  I will continue to work remotely but not opposed to securing a new job if available.  I have a background in Learning and Development, Cybersecurity and IT Audit.  I also help others invest in international real estate.  I love learning new things and happy to help out wherever I am needed.  Happy to serve and look forward to meeting other families like ours.

Hello Jerrod,

Welcome to the forum 😊

Nice project you have there, moving with the whole family is quite an adventure! I’m sure you’ll enjoy discovering life in Verona.

Feel free to ask if you have any questions, and hopefully you’ll connect with other families here soon.

All the best for your move!

@Bhavna

Thanks for the well wishes.  While we know we will love the Verona area, we are going in with eyes wide open.  We don't know yet what we don't know so I am sure I will be reaching out, especially after we get there.  Thanks again.

Ciao, my name is Jaimee and my goal is to find my heritage and roots.  Both sides of my family came from Ciro and Calabria.  I'm from America and have become very weary of the direction the country is going.  I have lived longer than I have left and choose to spend the remainder of my life in Italy where I think I will find the life that I grew up in for the first 30 yrs. of my life.  I long for the simplicity, security and like minded beliefs.  I lost my husband 8yrs. ago and did not expect to go it alone at the age of 49. but that is just what happened,  I have thought long and hard and decided that Italy was where I belonged,  I'm currently taking Italian lessons online through Preply and Walter is my tutor, he is from Rome and I highly recommend him he teaches it in a very laid back fun approach.  I'm looking into a descendants visa to move to Italy which sounds like it might take up to 3yrs.  but I'm determined to stay the course to make it happen.

Hello Rosezaay, welcome to the Italy forum .

Have you already decided where in Italy you’d like to live, or are you still exploring? Also, what kind of business are you planning to start?

That will help members guide you better.
