Is Pecs a good place to retire for Americans ?

@cdw057

Bullying should not happen on any forum , my personal opinion. I can look up a lot of things but I would like to hear from people who experience things. I thought this forum is made for that

How was living in Heviz? Is it a good place for retirement ? Why did you decided to move away from there? I was considering heviz fr the wonderful lake, is it nice to live there ?

cdw057

It is very nice to live, the infrastructure is there, and the biggest plus (for my wife) are Heviz Lake, shops and quiet (depends if you like garden or not). The reason to leave, what can I say, big, big profit on property and my wife like to speak Russian. (Mahmutlar (Alanya))

I do not work at all (in Turkey), the proximity of good restaurants is good for me. Proximity of shops, beach, hairdressers, wool shops, at a good price (for EUR/USD).  (for my wife)

If you are very old and need for assistance, Nemesbuk is good I think (good price for your husband (and possibky you))

Again not bullying, but I am suspicious.

@cdw057 Honestly USD 3 K pm for most Hungarians is decadent (good of course)

Do you know a good real estate agent in that area ?

Life is always different when you experience things yourself.

Doing research is very helpful but actually having the experience  is something else.

Things that may get under one person's skin might not be a bother to another person.

Live and let live is my motto.

No time to be angry with anyone, not worth the time and energy spent.

Whatever doesn't serve should be dropped.

It's scary to move half way around the world from the US.

It's not like you can just get in your car and turn around and go home again.

It's understandable to wonder about things, it's a huge investment of resources and time to come this far away from what you know.

We used to visit many times for long periods up to 6 months to 18 months and still were not sure if moving to Hungary was a good idea or not.

It's very different then the US .
