That's what I'm planning to do..however one law office I talked to said this process can only be done if I visit the Greek consulate or embassy...which conflicts about everything else I've read

Try contacting them at.....info@taxblock.gr.....an email,they will put you straight.Remember that when the tax office gives you your taxisnet.gr account codes you can go into your account and see what your dues are and make the one off payment or in doses,obviously easier to pay a one off with ebanking.Im talking about of course your enfia dues,your TAP tax which is minimal goes in with your electricity bill,never under estimate that TAP,its peanuts but should one wish to sell they kick up a huge fuss if its not in order.

Do you mind my asking how you decided to handle it - use tax block or visit your consulate? We have just started the process of wanting to purchase in Greece from the states and the information out there is rather conflicting. Would love to hear what worked for you.

Hi,when you buy a property here or land you must use a Symvolio,a lawyer and an accountant,of course you will have obtained your tax number.News says a tax number can now be obtained on line, thats a nice idea but as usual its a little difficult in reality.When you buy you need an accountant to add your property on the tax details,an E9,they will help you,advise you about a one off payment for your Enfia as well as your TAP tax which gets added to your electric bill,its a very small amount added to each bill but its a Gestapo type of tax, and it depends on the total area you have, your accountant declares to the tax office your details,its extremely complicated,thats why you should always be here to sort all of these matters,if everything is not declared by an accountant properly you will have a penalty and you will pay for any dearly for any mistakes,you will pay back payments not paid.Always come here to sort everything in person,this is a very complicated country to buy property in and they change laws and rules almost every week.I know because I have bought and sold recently,it was HELL.My husband is Greek and it was so for him too.

When you want to buy a property-land you will instruct your lawyer and symvolio to check ownership papers,they go through it with a fine tooth comb,NEVER use anyone recommended by the agent,find your own,BE HERE IN PERSON.
