New in Munich

Lpy

Hi there everyone! I'll move to Munich at the beginning of next year from London. It's for a relatively short period (less then 1 year) and hopefully for longer, if I like it. I have got so many questions for you who already live there!

I hope I will like the city..... Anyone moved from London to Munich who can give me his/her impression?

Is there any good website in english language for renting a shared flat/house?

Thanks in advance!
L.

Have you checked the accommodation section of Munich classifieds?
It might help ;)

Hi Lisa,

Lovely to meet you here and I am very sure that you will just love this city!

If you are looking for an apartment here you should fist identify where you prefer your whereabouts to be....close to the office for example? or may be in the city centre? or possibly you prefer to be just outside the centre with the possibility of some small woods but having still a good easy access to your office?
If you like to give me the approximate area of the office, I could easily give you some recommendations of the safe close areas with easy transport access or drive ways so you would avoid big traffic jams in the morning on the way to work.
Otherwise, everything is so easy here, with all possibilities to get down to Italy in less than 3 hours of driving, Salzburg in 2 hours and Zurich in 3 hours.
Feel free to get in touch

Hi Beppe,

many thanks for your answer!

I will be working around Am Hart. I don't think I will be driving, even if I could consider the idea after some months. Ideally I'd like to live within max 20 min by public transport. I'd love to cycle.. I'm looking for an area with nice places to hang out from time to time, not too expensive, and relatively close to work.

Thanks for the info provided, they are really much appreciated!
(Hope to get in touch for further questions)
Cheers

Hey Lisa,

You are actually not too far from the centre and on the U2 line.  An ideal area would probably be somewhere around Königsplatz in view of the fact that getting to work would be just a hope on the U2.  There is a brand new block of apartments which will be ready to move into in January (I happen to have bought one in the block but unfortunately already promised to a friend of mine) but in this case it depends on your budget.  There would be also cheaper ones around of course.
my email address is b@asbpartner.com should you wish to contact me directly.

Hi Beppe,

thanks everything is ok and sorry for not answering again. I menage to find a temporary accomodation with the company for the first months there, which will make things easier as once I'll be there I can have a look around to better understand which area suits me best! All people included you are saying Munich is quite an easy city where to live so it should't take so long to find the right area.. fingers crossed

Anyway good to know there's someone like you who can give advices down there!
Thanks for your contact
