Clarifications needed for Job Visa application

Ozaveshe

Hello !

I recently just completed a series of successful interviews and the job offer would be sent by post so I am preparing to apply and I just need your expert advice. The firm is an engineering company in Berlin and English is the working language.

I have a bachelors in Mechanical Engineering and am almost done with my masters (already submitted the thesis but am waiting for the final approval and grade) . All other courses completed.

I also am currently doing an Internship in Denmark. It was a six month contract which expired on June but I got an extension for five months.

So due to the corona, getting my extension visa has been delayed. I am legally in Denmark since I can wait for a decision and I can keep on working but I don't have a visa stamp or anything yet.

So with that context, here are my questions.

About Education

1)  Can I apply for the work visa only with my bachelors or I should wait until I get the masters certificate ? Is there an added benefit or are my chances reduced with only a bachelors.

2) Would a show of transcript of results be enough to show that I have a masters but it's not completed ?

3) Since I am submitting a one page CV which would contain my Education, would me not submitting my masters negatively hinder my chances of getting the work visa ?

About Residence

1) It clearly states that I need to prove my residence before I can apply for the German visa at the consulate. Would showing that I have a pending extension application be enough proof that I am legally resident ?

I have the case order ID and proof of biometrics.

About Visa Type

My annual gross salary is enough to apply for a EU Blue card. Should I apply for the blue card or the work visa in my case ?

Is there a difference in the processing times for both options ? I know it's maximum of three months for both but maybe it's not like that in reality.

Thank you, I would really appreciate your inputs

About the formalities and which documents to submit, you better ask the embassy - as different embassies might do things differently.
Whether you apply for a work visa or blue card is up to you in this case. You can read online about the differences. The processing time is probably similar - but again, ask the embassy!

Having a degree and a solid job offer is enough - there is no requirement to have a master’s degree for a work permit. Thus you don't have to really prove anything to the consular officials about this. If anyone would want some proof of your academic status for a yet to be issued degree, it would be the employer.

And you can apply for the blue card later. One doesn't need one and the basic advantages of it are only to streamline one's pathway to permanent residency and possibly eventual citizenship. Unless you really plan to stay indefinitely in Germany then there really isn't much point.  There are often questions here by people who seem to be under the false impression that they need to qualify for a blue card before they can immigrate to Germany, or that they are going to get some great advantages from it that don’t exist.

Thank you so much @beppi and @TominStuttgart for the clarifications. It is well noted and appreciated.
