Getting a new job in Germany with a Visa Type D

kurtmwangi89

Hello,

I am three months in Europe and I came via Germany with type D visa. Is it possible to get a job elsewhere with the same visa in the hospitality industry?

Kind regards.

What do you mean by elsewhere?

In a different country than Germany?

Just for clarification: you have a D-Visa issued by Germany?

What was the purpose of the visa?

@ALKB Hello,

Thank you for your correspondence.

Yes, I am on a type D work Visa issued by Germany. I'm wondering if it is possible to get a job in a different place in Germany or if I am limited to my current employer. I am in the hospitality industry.

Kind regards,

Curtis Mwangi

Is this an employer-sponsored visa? If so, it is likely to be specifically for this job only.

Usually, it will say on the residence permit under "Anmerkungen" what the employment conditions are e.g. "Erwerbstätigkeit gestattet bei XYZ".

In that case, your residence and authorization to work is bound to the specific job you were sponsored for. Any change of employment will need a new application.

Just to be sure, since you haven´t shared a lot of specifics: you are not on a BlueCard, you are not on a student visa, it was an employer who recruited you and took care of your residence permit application? Yes? No?

And also to be sure: you said you have been here for three months and you hold a visa. A visa is entry clearance only. Have you actually been to the local immigration authority to obtain your residence permit?
