Moving to UK for teaching work opportunities.

Hi everyone! 😊

My name is Natalia, I’m from Spain and I’m a primary education student and I will finish my degree in June 2026. I would love to move to the UK and start a new life there.

I’m looking for a job as a teacher or any other kind of job to begin with, because my main goal is to live in the UK, improve my English and gain experience. I’m responsible, motivated and I really enjoy working with children, but I’m also open to other opportunities.

If you have any advice or know about job opportunities, I’d be very grateful. Thank you!

You are in luck, teachers are in short supply in the UK, and I think pretty much Europe. I come from a family of teachers, and this website, TES (https://www.tes.com/jobs/) is where all the jobs are advertised; the site also has very useful information, it will answer all the questions you have.

Good Luck

Hi @Natalia Calás,

Congratulations in advance on finishing your degree!

I am actually in the middle of planning a relocation to the UK for 2026 too. Since you are looking at London, the biggest shock you will likely run into is trying to budget for housing on a starting teacher's salary.

The property websites here hide a lot of mandatory costs. You will see a base rent, but things like 'Council Tax' (a local neighborhood tax) and energy bills can easily add an extra £200 to £300 a month that isn't obvious on the initial listing.

I got so frustrated trying to calculate all of this manually from a distance that I actually built a free little browser extension for myself. It automatically estimates those hidden taxes and energy costs and adds them directly to the rent price on the screen, so you can see if a flat is actually within your real budget.

Feel free to reply here or send me a private message if you want to try it out for your search!

Best of luck with your final year of studies and the move.
