Moving from Algeria to the United Kingdom

Hey all,

I have a friend (and her current boyfriend who will be married before they move) but we are struggling to understand the laws around all of this.

I am from the United Kingdom myself, and I am wanting to help them both move over here.

Does anyone know what kind of stuff/documentaion we should be looking at to get them over here legally? Ideally, they are moving permanently with my help. Is there someone who we should be contacting i.e someone who can help?

Has anyone made this move?

Hi Charlie,

The easiest way for your friend is to make his intentions clear at the British Embassy in Algiers. Your friend’s spouse will then be issued with Spouse visa to enter the Uk and once they’re here, they should apply for residency from the Home Office. It is important for your friend and his spouse to keep the details of emails they’ve been exchanging, photos they took together and so on, in order to prove that this is a true marriage rather than anything else.
