first time in prague - Practical infos? Taxi / Telephone

Metro covers most places, and if you need to travel further, tram and buses are very convenient and inexpensive. The ticket is always valid for all types of transport.
Taxi - I don't use any company regularly so cannot recommend. Just make sure they use meter and charge what's on it. Overcharging is supposed to be rare (never happened to me) but I hear it still happens.

You have a good chance with English in the city centre, however when you go to suburbs or smaller towns, it's likely people won't speak English.

Yeah, the weather will be a surprise for you It all depends on how you cope with cold. Generally, make sure to pack a winter jacket and a sweater, temperatures are around 0-5C these days and are likely to drop in January. It may rain or snow, too.

Credit and debit cards are generally accepted across shops, restaurants, cabs, etc, don't worry.
