I have rented a house in Kamares for the last 4 years from a UK landlady. She has never mentioned any charges nor have any of the neighbours. I'm sure if they had been hit with charges this hight it would have been a topic of conversation. Property purchase is a bit of a wild west show here. All levels of the process have corruption.

Hello and thank you very much for your help and input.  I had long ago ruled out anything other than a resale property but was alarmed to read of possible high developer charges years or decades later and when presumably the property may well have changed hands in the meantime.  I will follow your advice and as we are going to be there again in September staying in Kamares I will hopefully meet some other property owners.
