Hi all,

Very new to this forum and to Bulgaria. We`ve actually bought a house near yambol in the country side but are we are still in the UK.

We bought 2 wks ago so...Very very new! I think the plan is a total rebuild on the land where the original house sits but were trying to cost it all up still!

But would love to here from people that have moved out there and what there take is on living and building in Bulgaria.

Also what are the job prospects like, for English people and weather to take the plunge and move permanently?

Sorry lots of question, any advice would be fab!

I will give you strong advice do not move out there permanently if that means selling up in the UK. You may be a lot smarter and wiser than other Brittish couples who have done that.
However ive known couples who have done just that a regreted it even one guy ended up checking himself into the luny bin. I do not mean to scare you off Bulgaria can be a lovely place. You will tend to find you can get on well with the locals when socialising with them and drinking and having fun.
However i may seem biter and twisted this is friendly advice from someone who knows. Do not employ them and especialy them who live in the same village. It can lead to all kinds of problems and arguements.
I have experience doing work for other ex pats in Bulgaria and for myself but in Veliko turnovo region.
However i have interest in investing near where you have. Im looking at a plot just outside Elhovo. Also im researching into places a bit further towards Burgas.
The area around Yambol, Elhovo , Burgas seems much better value for money from my research than other places and not too far from the sea. Yes keep in touch please give me advice if you come across any bargains i will not be out there till autumn.

Yes, Bulgaria is a lovely place with lovely people. However if you are not retirement age and need to find work in Bulgaria this is a problem. There is not enough work for the well educated Bilingual Bulgarians let alone someone coming from the UK. Do not expect to began a new life unless you are planning to be self employed and work from home as this will really not happen. Bulgaria is great for someone on a pension the money goes a great deal further than in the Uk. Otherwise think very carefully.

I have to agree with Draken, work is not easy to find especially if you don't speak the language and wages are very low here in Bulgaria.

We have been here over 5 years and don't regret making the move but we do work hard. Mix with the locals, get to know the language and make an effort to speak to everyone.
