My family and I are currently planning a big leap! We are relocating from Vietnam to your beautiful island, and we couldn't be more excited. It will be myself, my wife, and our adventurous little girl (she is almost 3.5 years old!). As we prepare for this major transition, we would love to get some real-world advice from locals and expats who know the island best.
We are trying to piece together a realistic picture of everyday life. Could you guys share your insights on a few things?
🏡 Housing & Neighborhoods: Which areas would you recommend for a young family? We are looking for a safe, welcoming, and family-friendly neighborhood. What is the realistic monthly rent for a standard 2-bedroom house or apartment?
🛒 Cost of Living & Utilities: Beyond rent, what does a typical monthly budget look like for groceries, electricity, water, and reliable internet? Are there any "hidden costs" or expensive everyday items that newcomers usually don't expect?
💼 Local Employment & Creative Opportunities: While I plan to work remotely, we are also very curious about the local job market and potential freelance/business collaborations (keeping visa regulations in mind). We have backgrounds in business, as well as teaching art, 3D design and printing, and 3D game development. Are there any local schools, creative hubs, or tech communities where skills like these might be valuable or appreciated? What are the best local channels to explore these avenues?
👧 Toddler Life & Amenities: Since we have a 3.5-year-old, having access to good pediatric healthcare, daycares/preschools, and kid-friendly activities is a top priority. How easy is it to find these amenities, and are there any specific facilities you highly recommend?
🚗 Getting Around: Is it absolutely necessary to buy or long-term rent a car to get around with a toddler, or is public transportation and local taxi service manageable for daily errands?
