CAR INSURANCE?

Hi. Can someone fill me in on the process for buying a cheap used car and getting it insured in Panama? I've heard that doing anything in Central America is a big pain because of the red tape and slowness. But I don't see how we can get around this one - we absolutely need a car while we're there! We're going to be there as tourists (not residents) but for at least six months, so a car is essential. Is there someone out there who can give me some details on this subject? Much appreciated!

We're not going to be in Boquete. We want to be on the coast, so we're looking at Gorgona area (also a good school there). If you know of anyone there, let me know - thanks!
