Moving to S D August 1, 2021, shipping over my photo studio gear.

Hello,

I am relocating to Santo Domingo August 1.

What is the best way to ship over my photography lighting equipment? It is about a closet full of things.

2 of the lighting cases will not fit in blue barrels as they  are too long (chest high).

Other things, I live on Long Island, NY.  I already have an apartment and immigration attorney as well as work lined up.

I look forward to your help.

Sincerely,
Paul

Are you getting residency or a work visa?

One allows you to ship household goods with special treatment and one does not.

You can contact Omar who had a shipping company in the NY area.  +1 829-748-3000
I am applying for citizenship.  My wife is Dominican. She isn't coming.
You might be able to bring your lighting cases on the airplane as over sized luggage.  Just wrap them in plastic.  Check with the airline...  They don't sound too big, golf clubs for example, even bicycles can be brought on the airplane....
I had not thought of that. Thank you for the suggestion.
Ok so you are starting with residency, that is the path to citizenship. Once granted then you can bring in a container of household goods and  many of the taxes and fees are waived or reduced.
