Is it cheaper to live in punta cana or las terrenas?

Soljahh

I've read a lot about LT and PC being a nice place for expats. Which would you consider being the better area to choose from price wise? Our budget for the first year would up to  1k-2k a month because we want to live in a nice place with fellow expats until we learn our Spanish and so we can get comfortable on the island. From there we will venture out slowly and explore further options.

On a lower budget I will recommend las terrenas, samana, and most of the north coast - puerto plata, costambar, sosua and cabarete.

I agree with Planner.  Also biggest Expat presence will be in Sosua, Cabarete, and Puerto Plata area.
