Canadian, stay less than 6 months in the DR, insurance necessary

Thanks so much for the advisement.  My partner is 61. Do I understand correctly that your parameters apply?
People should remember that many expats don't try to 'straddle the fence'
meaning try to keep their home country insurance and get local coverage

By going true 'expat' you exit the home country and its tax obligations..
freeing up untold amounts of money annually.

'Having your cake and eating it too'   .... may not be viable

a returning resident can be re-established faster than 90 days by a doctor if the situation is severe.
