Buying furniture in Punta Cana

Hi everyone,

I recently purchased a condo in Bávaro, Punta Cana in the BORN development. I’m a Realtor in the U.S. and hope to eventually expand into selling real estate in the Dominican Republic as well.

The condo will primarily be for personal use and enjoying time in Punta Cana, although I may also use it as a rental property at times in the future.

I decided not to purchase the furniture package offered by the developer because I figured I could furnish it myself and hopefully save some money while adding a more personal touch to the space.

For those who have furnished a condo in Punta Cana on your own, what was your experience? Did you purchase locally, import items, or do a mix of both? Any recommendations for furniture stores, appliances, delivery services, or tips for keeping costs reasonable would be greatly appreciated.
