Import tax exemption for houshold goods?

simonr69

We move in April from Switzerland to the DR. and we can pick up our Cedula for temporary residency which was been approved.

Therefore we send a 20ft container with our household goods to the DR. I have the knowledge that we could get a import tax exemption. But we heard different stories that it depends on which type of cedula is eligible for tax exemption. Some say only the yellow are valid (able to vote)

As im not a lawyer i could not find an exact answer. Are pople here with some experience or knowledge of this matter?

Your first residency as a non voting expat gives you the ability to bring in a container with certain exemptions.  There are a bunch of rules attached to this so make sure you understand them.
