Guagua etiquette

Can anyone explain what the deal is with sitting in the front seat in a guagua? Can anybody sit there? How much extra does it cost (or does that vary with the route)? I've been trying to figure it out by watching, but I'm not picking it up. I would like to sit up there if only so I don't have to shout CHOFER DONDE PUEDE so loud.

Sitting in the front seat and paying for two means you have a bit more comfort. Being squeezed into the back seat with people on either side is just not comfy.  Depending on the time of day, you may find yourself between two people who worked all day in the hit sun.....

or a giant person with a giant bag of stuff...

once in a similar vehicle (not in the DR), someone got on with a jerrycan of gasoline and put it down right in front of the door. I decided at that point that a walk would do me good😂

good to know that paying double should cover it! a definite "cheap at twice the price" situation.

And you have to be clear you are paying for 2 seats!!!!    Ask ahead of time the regular rate so you know.
