Start by getting rid of two cats...

Which country do you live in, Kohlerias? You are so serious and act as if almost nothing is allowed in Costa Rica. Pura vida, man! You told me a while back that I won't find work as an English teacher and that work visas are so hard to get... Really? Well, here i am in costa rica and loving it heeeeee!

I have lived in Costa Rica for many years and have met many young people that have came here expecting to find legal work. ..and unfortunately, many don't.

Yes, I am serious in that I don't like to hear that people have been taken advantage off. I never said you would find work though, and I did give you the info on how to apply for a work visa, didn't I?

Did you get a work visa? If you did, I am glad that you were lucky enough to get one. This article was posted yesterday, on how to get a work visa.

I may be serious but I am not mean in responding to someones query who is intending to bring their 'extended family' with them.

My previous post should have read "... I never said you wouldn't find work though' just that to find legal work you need a work visa.

First you will need an international certificate of health from a vet for each cat. You will need a separate small pet carrier for each cat. Most if not all will not permit more than one per carrier There is no quarantine for them as long as you have the certificates. I did this 9 years ago with my cat. Nothing has changed as far as I know

Is this a joke? Four cats coming into Costa Rica will be a source of food for some animal down here, unless you live up in San Jose. My suggestion.... don't bring your cats here.

So you are suggesting I move and leave my cats alone to fend for themselves in the States? That's nice.

There is always one in the crowd! We brought both ours and they love it here.

I guess there are people on this earth who would allow their relationship with four cats to change their retirement plans.... LOL Some people do not realize the dangers which imported cats face when brought into this country. Our neighbor brought in a black Doberman a couple of years ago, and it died from a snake bite, as the dog was unaware of the dangers of what animals to stay clear of.
If you decide to live in the concrete jungle of San Jose, perhaps imported cats may have a chance of survival.

Who says she is going to let her cats roam wild? I brought 2 cats here and they have done great. They stay inside and only go outside supervised on a leash. Outside cats in my development do fine because they grew up here and know how to survive. I would not do this to an imported cat (or dog). This place has many dangerous animals. It's just common sense! For the same reason, I don't run through the forest in flip flops.

Yes "TheWizz" you are correct.... they do much better when they grow up in the Costa Rica environment, and know what the dangers are. A cat on a leash "that's funny", do you stop and pick up his poop when taking him for a walk? The last time I seen an animal on a leash in Costa Rica is when a Gringo woman was pulling on it down at the river. The crock already had her little white dog nearly fully consumed. She almost ended up in the water herself.

What a lovely story. Where did I say I walked my cat?

My advice to the OP is to ignore some of the elements on this forum and bring your cats. If you look after them, they'll be fine. You don't have to sink to the lowest common denominator. The CR embassy in the USA should have the info necessary on their website.

Well said thewizz. One must ignore or write off opinions that do not have factual or historical information.

TerrynViv has always been critical of those who express their basic rights to free speech in this forum, and even advises people to ignore posters who express views which do not sugar coat life here in Costa Rica.

Is not being critical of those who express their basic rights to free speech also my basic right? I read a post …….

….. the poster knew nothing about. I expressed that we brought our two cats here and they flourish here (much better than the minus 40 temperatures of Alberta). This was, and is, a personal experience and is not “sugar coated”. I reiterate that one must listen to those that have experienced what a forum member is asking in his / her post. There are many out there that just want to offer an opinion rather than respond to the original poster’s question.

My respectful opinion.
