Need replacement for VirtuFon service for text & voice messaging

Hello Friends!

We have been using VirtuFon since we moved here 3 years ago from the US, but they closed down a couple of months ago and I have yet to be able to find what I need to replace this service. All I need is something to receive text and voice messages - mostly for verification codes, etc, sent by US banks, credit card companies, etc, when needed. Don't need to be able to use for calls. Virtufon sent an email when I received a text or voice message and I just clicked to go retrieve it on my account online. Worked fine and was cheap. Some have suggested using Google Voice - but you have to be in the US to set it up apparently, so that is a problem. Also suggested was Magic Jack using the app, but I just found this on their website "Text messaging to your magicJack telephone number must be coming from a 10 digit telephone number. Short codes (like banks and verification codes) will not work with MagicApp." so doesn't look like that will work either. I have searched and so far just have not come up with a good solution. Anyone out there have any recommendations?? Thanks!
