High of 36c in Saigon today. Pretty hot but after having visited Singapore and Thailand this time of year seeing temps over 41c I cant complain.

Very hot over here in HCMC too (35). If I were made of wax I wouldn’t stand a chance.

High temperatures in the Tropics is hardly surprising, especially during the yearly Hot Season.

Anyway, it's one of the main reasons I'm here. I love to sweat and thrive in the heat.

Everyone needs to make sure they stay hydrated though.

Currently enjoying a cool sinh tố bơ and the evening breeze along the Mekong River, so actually feeling a little chilly at the moment.

I think they've changed the trigger zone.

32°c isn't so extreme, but "feels like" 40° is

Hot sunny days are one of the reasons I’m here too. I’ve been here for 10 years and have no plans to return to Michigan. -26 is just not my thing.

That being said 35 is unusually hot even here in the tropics

Agreed, 32C really isn't so very hot. Even Ottawa sees multi-day runs of 32C+ in the summer.

Might the seemingly low 32C triggering a heat alert be due to the intensity of the sun's rays here in the tropics?

I'm thinking that since temperatures are recorded outdoors in the shade, 32C is 32C, regardless of where in the world it is recorded. But here, in direct sunlight, I've little doubt that the hood of a black car would feel much hotter than it would in northern climes, with both reporting a 32C reading.

What with the prevalence of corrugated metal roofs, the interior of many homes would likely get dangerously, shall we say, toasty. Likewise, the interior/core-temperature of any outdoor labourers😓.

There are days where locals describe the sun as being "angry".

Coming up on 9 years for me.   And.....loving it! (hat-tip to Maxwell Smart)

The day I decided I was leaving Canada for warmer digs, it was -40C (incidentally, -40 degrees is the only point where Celsius and Fahrenheit meet). If I ever go back to Canada it will probably be in a wooden crate, or an urn.

Looking forward to the soon-to-arrive rains here in the south of the country to cool things down a bit.

31C down in The Delta Region today, but feels like 40C Humidity is probably 100% and it's not raining yet.

Yeah, humidity is the real culprit

The humidity is quite uncomfortable. Time to start keeping the rolling papers in a plastic ziplock bag.

Also, it's the start of lychee season, the best time of year!

Any members have a report from up north? I read that yesterday Hanoi was at 41C (feels like 47!).

Outlook for North & Central Vietnam     (yuck)

Currently in Đà Nẵng. Forecast calls for 36° soon, likely "feels like" about 46° (that's 114.8 degrees fahrenheit). It's VERY humid 🥵

Rains here over the past three days have provided a welcome relief from the heat.

With that relief comes the very real risk of flooding. The small stream/brook at the back of the house has the annual potential to swell up and break over its banks. I'll be keeping a close eye on it, and be on the ready to lift items in the house up onto tables/counter-tops should the need arise.

Thinking a good thought for you guys 🙏

Late June, and this has to be the absolute driest start to any monsoon season I've experienced in Vietnam (North, or South Vietnam).

Not a drop since the weather office lifted their flood warning from 2 weeks ago (which thankfully didn't happen). There've been several very humid days, but no rain.

It made mowing the large garden easier. But that sun is brutal.

Any other members experiencing unusual seasonal weather?

Not sure where you are? Rain almost every afternoon for 2 weeks and streets flooding in Grandpark and nearby routes in Thu Duc…

Phu Quoc. Dry as a desert, with the clay soil like concrete.

Yes, I don't live there, of course, but it was in the national news:

Heavy rain stopped planes from landing at Ho Chi Minh City's Tan Son Nhat airport on the evening of June 11

Here in the Delta, we've had a lot of wonderful clouds 🌥 and occasional rain 🌧, sometimes heavy, in the afternoon/evening for the past couple weeks. I even saw a rainbow one afternoon 🌈
