Since your question is about ENTERING CHINA, I recommend that you create a new post in the China Forum

To enter, admit i have to go out first 😂🤣

But it is ok, it seems that this border is now international in Viatnam

I will take a look in China

I think you'll be fine exiting VN there, pending VN immigration's confirmation that your documents/visa/etc will permit entrance to China.

Do let us know how it goes.

I had a big problem in Tra Linh border ! the young guy who examined my visa asked (probably) his manager and i was not allowed to exit Vietnam because my visa was an Evisa.

It was already 2 pm, and i was on my last day, and i tried to explain to a lady speaking a few english at phone that it was not possible for me to join Lang Son and leave Vietnam the same day, then i risked to be over my duration... :-(

She said it was possible ! in fact i found a young taxi who brought me back to Cao Bang, and a bus that let me in Dong Dang, and i could leave by Huu Nhi border at 6.30 pm :-)

I asked my tourism agency, and even chatgpt, and they thought (as i did) that i could leave Vietnam by any international border...

The sentence in https://evisa.gov.vn/faq  is not clear about that : " Question : I plan to use an electronic visa to enter through Noi Bai International Border Gate. Am I required to exit through Noi Bai International Border Gate as well?

Answer : Foreigners using an electronic visa are not required to exit Vietnam through the same border gate where they entered. Note that foreigners must enter and exit Vietnam through international border gates designated by the government, as listed in the Overview Introduction section. "

The border in Tra Linh is now designated as an International border, and the goal is to develop tourism in this area around Cao Bang and Jingxi in China, so that tourists can make loop Cao Bang => Jingxi => PingXiang => Lang Son, or any other International border. Then i am puzzled about their goal and the way to achieve it ?

Wow! Thank you for the report!

Good you made it out prior to your being in an overstay position!

That young officer, and his senior, apparently weren't aware that an eVisa is issued to permit entrance to VN.

I may not be correctly understanding you, but I ALWAYS recommend printing out your e-visa BOTH for entering Vietnam AND exiting Vietnam.

Once your exit stamp has been placed in your passport, there's no reason to offer up your phone when entering the next country.

If they need to examine your Vietnam exit stamp, simply hand them your passport with your visa print copy.

Yes, it usually works to show your visa on your phone, but I don't like to take the chance that it won't

@OceanBeach92107

the question is not to print or not the Evisa (i always try to do, and on rare time i couldn't i used phone) but the allowance to exit Vietnam by any International border with an Evisa ? maybe someone has the law for these kind of visa ? i would like to read it, print it and bring it at the next International border (that is not on the list for entrance purpose...)  :-)  because i am almost sure there is nothing inside about that :-)

I'm almost sure that there is a departmental policy at the very least.

The choice of verifying a PDF copy of your Visa on your phone which you are going to take with you as you cross the border, or the choice of verifying your Visa through a hard copy which the officer can hold on to, has me pretty sure that those officers are probably being taught to look for the hard copy and retain it, in the rear chance that there is a question in the future
