Hoping for local Finance/Legal advice

Hi Everyone

My name is Rikki and I loved my time in Thailand from 2006 to 2020, even though the politics was occasionally a little crazy. I now live in Doha.

i am hoping one of your Thai finance/legal members can offer some advice.

i invested US$500k with an expat Thai based planner who invested the money with a internationally respected company in 2017.

status updates for a few years showed all was going well.

i am nearing retirement and in 2023 asked about the status, and kept getting fobbed off.

i recently checked old paperwork and found my policy number, proved my ID, and bypassed the planner and contacted the company direct.

They informed me that the account had been neglected for so long, the bad investments accrued so much that the charges and fees matched the balance. The account was closed with 0 balance in 2023.

The planner is still working in Asoke, I live in Doha, and he has stopped all correspondence, including deleting our Whattsapp account which contained all our requests for status updates.

he obviously wants me to walk away on the basis that investments can go down, but this appears more sinister than that.

Any advice is welcome.
