EP Application without Education Degree

shrimpfriedrice

Hello,

I am a current EP holder (1st EP), and just got an offer at a new company. So we're planning to apply for a new EP (2nd EP).

However, my Uni (in US) actually is not listed in the MoM dropdown menu, hence we'll need a third party agency to verify this. To move things fast, the new HR suggested to apply without the Education Qualification. Do you think this will complicate the application? or cause rejection?

Additional info for context:
- Why need fast? My current EP is expiring, hence we want to make sure I got New EP before current EP renewal is started by current company (plan to do in 1month time).

- We have done SAT test without Education Qualification, and it says still eligible for EP (understand this does not guarantee anything)

- My current EP also went through the verification, and it pass with no issue. But because currently it might take 2-4 weeks, we're very tight on schedule.

- My Profile:
Industry: Tech
Role: Business/Sales
Experience: 7 years
New Salary: 9100 (less than 10% increment, just in case)

Thank you in advance!

It is generally not a good idea to apply for an EP with a tight schedule. You better prepare a plan B for unforeseen delays!
Unless yours is a really dubious university (which is unlikely for a USA-based institution), MoM would not reject, but ask for a verification. Since there is a chance they won't even do that, I would just apply and hope for the best.
You could start the verification process (with one of the approved vetting agencies) at the same time, so you have a head start in case they do ask.

Hi beppi,

Thank you for the prompt answer. To confirm, you recommend I just go ahead and apply without mentioning my Education Qualification? Since MoM might not even check (preparing for verification in parallel).

Would that made me 'unqualified' for EP (by not having a degree)? Since i've seen that a pretty common reason for rejection.

*knock on wood* if i were to get rejected, then during appeal i would present my degree + verification?

Sorry, there is a misunderstanding:
I did NOT recommend applying without mentioning your degree. That won't work:
For one, you can't get an EP without degree (unless your salary is above S$15k/month or so, over which MoM does not care about education). And on the other hand MoM already knows about your degree fro your previous application - and supplying wong or incomplete information leads to sure rejection.
I meant applying with mention of your degree - and waiting for their reaction (i.e. if they ask for a verification). For that case you could also proactively ask a vetting agency already now to check your credentials.
But just one months might not be enough in any case!

My 25 cents, never alter your application for your convenience in SG or in any other country.

It is like forging your application by concealing information and then accepting the disclaimer later on that you aren’t falsifying info to the best of your knowledge.

Call the education credentials, even if it isn’t in the drop down, have confidence since this isn’t a fraudulent institute (just that it doesn’t appear in the drop down). If asked, you can get a verification done, else the MoM team would do it through an agency themselves- should be relatively quick.

Why jeopardise your career, is the Q to ponder on.
