Anyone traveling from Germany via Vaccination Travel Lane

techv

Hi all,

I received my In Principal Approval (IPA) by MoM back in July, and currently planning my travel to Singapore. Since my current area of residence is Germany, is it possible for me to travel from Germany to Singapore via VTL, with my IPA? In that case, I don't need any entry approval right?

I am not sure what option to select as part of my VTL application. There are 4 options in the application form which are copied below :
1) ICA long-term Visit Pass Holder
2) MOE Long-Term Pass Holder
3) MOM Long-Term Pass Holder
4) MFA Long-Term Pass Holder

Since I only have IPA and not the Employment Pass (EP) yet, can anyone please advice me what option to select? I think it is the second option, but I am not so sure about it.

ICA = Immigration & Checkpoints Authority
MoE = Ministry of Education
MoM = Ministry of Manpower
MFA = Ministry of Foreign Affairs
Which one issued your visa?

techv

Because it was IPA for employment purposes (EP), it was issued by Ministry of Manpower. My question is more like is IPA equivalent to MoM  Long-Term pass holder?

Shekhz

Yes, IPA in your case literally implies you have been granted an EP- just that you have to apply for the card once you get here

My employer says I cannot travel in VTL lane because I only have an IPA and not the Employment Pass yet. Is that correct?

techv

I called one of the helpline numbers from the Singapore goverment safe travel website, and they have said that because I only have an IPA letter currently, I should travel under the short-term visa option.

That’s correct, I checked this info and confirm that you will be under the short term visa option, not under long term pass category (EP).

My colleague contacted the customer care support on the safe travels website, and they have said that it doesn't really matter what type of pass I choose in the VTL application (only requirement is to be fully vaccinated). I can either choose the
1.Short term visitor visa option
2. Long-term visa option with sub-option MoM long-term pass holder.

Seems like even the authorities are not so sure about it, or the rules aren't so stringent (which is hard to believe)
