Regarding EP

alekseevi

Hi,

I am on EP right now and I am from India. Is it legal to work part-time remotely in India in jobs like life insurance planner or etc while we are living in Singapore on EP?

Thank you

This is  a very specific question and I don't know the answer - ask MoM to get authritative information!

On one hand, yor work pass is limited to the one job at one employer that it isissued for - you are not allowed to do any additional paid work in Singapore (and I assume you would want to do the side job you mention while you are located in Singapoe, right?).

On the other hand, doing paid work for foreign companies is allowed without a Singapore work pass (e.g. while holding a DPor STVP) - provided the foreign company has nopresence whatsoever in Singapore (no office, no business dealings, no customers).

In any case, you willhave todeclare your income and pay tax on it in Singapore, so you may want to clarify things with IRAS, too.

Yes while located in Singapore, during my free time, work a couple of hours a week during my free time(No like a fixed salary job, more like sales), remotely from Singapore. The company has no presence in Singapore. Should the tax be paid in both India and Singapore?

You should also check your Singapore employment contract  - many of them do not allow any side job.

Are you sure the foreign employer has no customers in Singapore - and will not have any in future, too? As soon as they have one (even without your knowledge), you become illegal.

and also, it must be fixed employment - freelance work on commission is counted as self-employed and thus not allowed.

Honestly: I would not do it!

Got it, Thanks for the advice.
