Taking Your Filipina Girlfriend on Holiday in SE Asia

Cherryann01

The three young women I know who've been offboarded were all told why. There was nothing mysterious about the decisions although all were strongly disagreed with by the poor lady in question. One was going to Kuala Lumpur to meet a man she had not met personally before, she had no accommodation booked because she was due to stay with him - she was offboarded because they suspected the purpose of the trip was sex work. Another was offboarded because she had accommodation booked for two people, in multiple locations, in Thailand but claimed to be travelling alone - they told her they suspected she was meeting someone and this could be a trafficker. The third was travelling to Singapore to stay with a university friend so had no accommodation booked and modest funds. Because she was a student she had no evidence of employment (worked casually in the family business) and was offboarded because they said they suspected she intended to overstay her visa and work illegally. - @Brojeslov

Then I would agree with the Immigration Officers decision in these 3 cases and completely understand why they were all denied travel.

The only conclusion I can reach from reading all the comments is that if you research, follow all the guidelines, have actually spent time in the Philippines with your girlfriend (maybe 3 plus visits to be safe), provide all the correct documentation and be able to show you have been in a relationship for maybe 2 years plus and your GF has a job, a property and good reason to return home - she will be able to travel with you.

My only question would be proof of funds - Would it be acceptable for the foreigner to show proof of funds and accommodation bookings or does the filipina still need to show she has enough money in a bank account to cover expenses  bearing in mind that the filipina is likely to only earn 500 pesos or so per day or is it best for the foreigner to actually transfer a few thousand pesos into his G/F's account? The foreigner will obviously be paying for everything after all.

Clutching at straws Cherry? Mentioned already the correct way to accomplish this, been there and done that and worked but followed the law and requirements,,,,, not rocket science for those that care to read. Do it once, do it correctly or you may be disappointed.

Not going to get into the fine details but a potential partner I travelled from the Philippines some 15 years ago to Australia that I had never met and only chatted to on Skype never had a problem because all the I's were dotted and the tee's crossed and 3 weeks later sent home and never spoke again. Better boots on the ground, then decide an O/S trip.

Cheers, Steve.

@bigpearl

Yes I can see that boots on the ground would make sense and you would be able to prove that you live together and

provide evidence to back that up.

I never needed evidence that we lived together Cherry, We never met until he came to Australia but the immi requirements were followed to a "t" and no problems, he was a head nurse in a hospital and got a letter from the employer for a months leave so maybe that helped?

Cherry read the requirements on the immi site, little more.

Cheers, Steve.

@bigpearl

I will read the requirements out of interest but I have no plans to try this yet and my next visit will probably be to the Philippines again to explore further places and maybe check out the Moalboal area also.

If I do eventually make the move, I would also need a hobby or interest or two to pass the hours. Maybe golf but like Lotus Eater mentioned before, any outdoor activity like golf and tennis will sap energy with the heat and humidity. But maybe if there is a nine hole golf course, I could play early in the day and be finished before noon. I just need to find something to pass a few hours because sitting in a bar everyday is not for me. Don't get me wrong I do enjoy the odd beer but once or twice a week in moderation is enough for me. Besides my preferred drink is cider, something I have not found in any bar, restaurant or hotel in the Philippines.

So I would ask Cherry if you have no plans to try this procedure out why post this topic? You were the OP and now after 45 posts you have not read the immi requirements? Believe Bloggs and here say? Do yourself a favour and study the immi requirements instead of second guessing and reading hype into what is simple instead of based on second hand info.

OMO.

Cheers, Steve.

I posted it simply because of what I had been told by a filipina who had left the country and returned after her visit abroad. I do not believe the blogs fully, every case is obviously going to be slightly different but the info I received initially was from a Filipina that had been successful done this and she told me about friends and a family member who had been denied boarding. If you read the final paragraph of my initial post you will see it is more about me advising others some of the things to take into account if they have plans to do this.

I have before also started threads on other subjects that I will obviously not be doing now because I do not live in the Philippines at the moment. One example was when I posted about properties for rent or sale and the lack of or badly taken pictures on the websites of the advertiser.

I am simply curious and want to gather information that may help me in the future.

My partner and I just got through Immigration at NAIA T3 for a nine-day trip to Hong Kong. We have been together 12 months, do not reside together and are not married. She was asked questions at the booth about our relationship and holiday plans and was stamped for exit without referral for an interview. The immigration officer asked to see evidence of our return flights and photos of our time together but other than that it was just questions. I was not involved.

Cherryann01

@Brojeslov

I hope you both have a great time in Hong Kong. I was there a couple of months ago for a few days and loved the place.
