PhilHealth (insruance) for Foreigners - Non resident.

Just wonder if any one can help with the following information:

*  Can a foreigner living in the Philippines, who holds a ACR card get Phil Heath cover?   (I am not married, nor a resident or citizen here and only enter the Philippines and stay here as a tourist, obtaining visa extensions as required)

*  Is yes, is Phil Health worth it?

Today my GF was told by Phil Health that it is possible, but as a non resident I am dubious that the Phil Health officer new what they were talking about.

The cost was 4,000php per quarter.

Yes, it is available to foreigners, payable quarterly, bi-annually or yearly.  Coverage varies according to the procedure. The hospital will let you know what portion is covered as Asean hospital did for me.

The links below should help with the details.

I don't bother with international, home country or Phil health insurance: my lifestyle has always been my insurance plan in Asia for the past 15 years. Life well, stay away from pollution, work out, keep active, eat nutritionally with supplements, stay out of bars, don't smoke and don't drink over much, and your life may not ever need health insurance. If you do get ill and need meds, just buy them? I've had I surgery, several injuries on bikes, German measles and flus/colds here from time to time, and just pay out of pocket for it all, and is still less hassle than dealing with insurers for what ails or happens to you. So cutting myself loose from med insurance has been more freeing than anything cos fewer cumbersome obligations....? Not for everyone.
